Microchipping

Information on how to microchip your pet

Pets can get lost no matter how responsible an owner you are. Doors can be accidentally left open, houses can be burgled, cats do roam and are sometimes picked up as strays. Collars and tags are an ideal first line of identity, but these can very easily be lost.

Microchipping is a quick, simple and painless one off injection placing a tiny microchip in the scruff of the neck. If your pet should get lost the unique microchip number can be retrieved by a simple portable scanner and help reunite you and your pet. It is also an integral part of the pet passport scheme allowing your pet to travel abroad and return to the UK without the need for quarantine. Microchipping can also assist where the ownership of an animal is in dispute and has been a legal requirement since April 2016
